What Escumado is — and what it isn't

Escumado is a free educational resource. We write about how money functions in Argentina: exchange rates, inflation adjustments, banking basics, and the financial instruments that exist for everyday people.

We do not offer personalized financial advice. We do not manage funds, sell investment products, or run financial schemes of any kind. Our role is to inform and explain — clearly and without jargon.

Argentina's economic environment is complex. Prices shift. Regulations change. We aim to give readers the conceptual tools to navigate that complexity with greater confidence in their own judgment.

What we cover

Core themes on this portal

From understanding peso dynamics to learning how household budgets hold up under pressure, these are the areas we explore in depth.

Inflation & purchasing power

How inflation affects the value of your income, what the CPI measures, and ways people historically protect their purchasing capacity in Argentina.

Exchange rates explained

Argentina has multiple exchange rate systems. We explain what each means, how they differ, and what they imply for everyday transactions without recommending any specific action.

Savings & emergency funds

The concept of an emergency fund, different approaches to saving, and the practical challenges of maintaining savings in a high-inflation environment.

Credit & debt

How consumer credit works in Argentina, what interest rates mean in real terms, and how to read a credit card statement clearly.

Household budgeting

Budgeting methods adapted to Argentine realities: variable incomes, utility adjustments, and the challenge of planning when prices shift frequently.

Banking basics

What Argentine bank accounts offer, how CBU and CVU work, digital wallets, and the financial infrastructure available to individuals without specialized knowledge.

Our story

How Escumado came to be

The portal grew from a recognition that financial literacy resources in Argentina often assume too much — or explain too little. Here is how our project developed.

2020

Founded in Buenos Aires

Escumado launched as a content project focused on making economic concepts accessible to people without formal finance backgrounds.

2021

Expanding topic coverage

We broadened our scope to include household budgeting tools, credit explanations, and guides to Argentine banking infrastructure.

2022

Youth finance section added

Recognizing that financial habits form early, we introduced dedicated content for young adults entering economic life for the first time.

2023–2024

Exchange rate coverage deepened

Argentina's evolving currency landscape required new explanatory content. We published in-depth guides to help readers understand the changes taking place.

2026

New site and bilingual launch

Escumado relaunched with a redesigned platform offering content in both Spanish and English, serving a broader audience interested in Argentine personal finance.
